Our approach

Different methods. One patient-focused approach.

At Life Meridian, we use a range of therapies, singly or together, depending on your condition, symptoms and individual needs. Your treatment is never based on a fixed formula — we first understand what you’re dealing with and then discuss which approach, or combination of approaches, is right for you.

Treatments

What each therapy involves

Seven therapies, used singly or together depending on what your assessment shows. Keep taking prescribed medicine unless the doctor who prescribed it tells you otherwise.

Fine acupuncture needles placed along a patient’s back during treatment

Uses needles

Acupuncture

Fine needles. Carefully selected points.

Acupuncture uses very fine, sterile needles placed at selected points on the body. It is widely used for wide range of health issues. At Life Meridian, treatment begins with understanding your symptoms and health history so that the approach can be tailored to you rather than following the same protocol for everyone.

Acupressure

The pressure of a hand instead of a needle.

Acupressure uses focused pressure and stimulation on specific points of the body rather than inserting needles. It can be used as a gentle, non-invasive approach for relaxation, muscle tension and selected symptoms, depending on the individual. Your practitioner will determine whether acupressure is suitable for your concern and how it can fit into your overall care.

Suction cups placed along the upper back during a cupping session

No needles

Cupping

A traditional technique used for focused muscular care.

Cupping involves placing cups on the skin to create suction, producing a pulling sensation over the treated area. We use cupping for muscle tightness, localised discomfort and recovery after exertion. Temporary circular marks or bruising can occur after treatment, so your practitioner will explain what to expect before proceeding.

Naturopathy

Looking beyond the symptom.

Naturopathy takes a broader approach to wellbeing, considering areas such as lifestyle, nutrition, sleep, movement and daily habits alongside your health concerns. At Life Meridian, naturopathic care is focused on understanding your individual situation and identifying practical ways to support healthier routines. It should complement appropriate medical care rather than replace necessary diagnosis or treatment.

Moxibustion

Gentle warmth as part of traditional treatment.

Moxibustion involves applying controlled heat from burning dried mugwort near selected areas of the body. It is traditionally used alongside acupuncture and other techniques, with the aim of providing warmth and stimulation to specific areas. Treatment should be performed carefully by a trained practitioner, with attention to heat sensitivity, skin condition and individual health needs.

Electrodes clipped to acupuncture needles for gentle stimulation

Uses needles

Electro-Acupuncture

Acupuncture with a gentle electrical stimulus.

Electro-acupuncture builds on traditional acupuncture by applying a small electrical current between selected acupuncture needles. The sensation is usually a gentle pulsing or tapping rather than a strong shock. We use it for pain and musculoskeletal conditions, with the intensity set to what you can comfortably tolerate.

No needles

Seed Therapy / Sujok

Small points. A simple, hands-on approach.

Seed therapy and Sujok-based techniques use points on the hands or feet as part of a treatment approach. Small seeds or other forms of stimulation are applied to selected points and are intended to provide gentle, ongoing stimulation between sessions. Your practitioner can explain the method and whether it is appropriate for your particular concern.
